Bringing into use of GSO and NGSO Satellite Networks - ITUWRS-22

1.The key role of the ITU is to ensure rational, equitable, efficient and economic use of underused spectrum and orbitral positions so that all administrations can fairly use such frequencies.

In scenarios where there are multiple and/or fictitious regarded assignments it is no doubt of concern to the ITU and community.

Highlighting the trends and definitions that have arise in the past conferences we go through what was discussed over WRC-12, WRC-15, WRC-19 and upcoming WRC-23 (to be discussed):

Definition of the bringing into use for GSO (WRC-12)

Penalty for late suspension information (WRC-15)

Satellite hopping - Resolution 40 (WRC-15)

Request of clarification under No. 13.6 (WRC-12, WRC-15)

Definition of the bringing into use for NGSO (WRC-19)

Constellation deployment – Resolution 35 (WRC-19)

Post –milestone procedure (will be discussed at WRC-23)

Tolerance for NGSO orbital characteristics (will be discussed at WRC-23)

Regulatory and Technical Examination - ITU-WRS-22

For the purposes of completeness and validation process of the coordination and examination by the ITU there are two things one has to bear in mind:

conformity with Radio Regulations (No. 9.35 of RR) and

co-ordination requirements (No. 9.36 of RR)

So what is the expectation? To find a favourable finding.

ITU World Radiocommunication Seminar 2022 (WRS-22), Geneva, Switzerland, 24 to 28 October

The ITU organizes World Radiocommunication Seminars (WRS) on a biennial basis, in complement to the cycle of Regional Radiocommunication Seminars (RRS). WRS deal with the use of the radio-frequency spectrum and the satellite orbits, and, in particular, with the application of the provisions of the ITU Radio Regulations.

Over the course of a day, people flew in from across Australia to hear the movers and shakers in an industry which is probably more known behind the scenes than at the forefront. Announcing new products and ways to measure company data and also how to prepare for cyber incidents as well as post incidents, it’s fair to say it was a day of intense information and knowledge sharing.
